Reliable Gray Iron Castings from Prototype Through High-Volume Production

OSCO Industries produces quality gray iron castings for customers across a wide range of industries and production requirements. With three Ohio foundries and multiple molding technologies, we have the flexibility to support programs ranging from several thousand castings per year to more than four million pieces annually.

Our capabilities include green sand and shell molding, in-house core making, heat treating, engineering support, prototype development, solidification modeling, and access to machining and finishing services through established partners.

Molding Capabilities

OSCO specializes in small- to medium-sized gray iron castings for medium- and high-volume production. Our molding capabilities include Disamatic, Osborn, Hunter, and Shalco shell molding equipment, allowing us to match the molding process to the requirements of the part and production program.

Across our three Ohio foundries, OSCO operates two green sand facilities and one shell molding facility.

Portsmouth Division — Portsmouth, Ohio

Our Portsmouth facility provides green sand molding using:

  • 2 Disamatic 2013(A) molding machines — 19 × 23 flask size
  • 1 Osborn In-Liner molding machine — 16 × 22 flask size
  • 2 Hunter 10 molding machines — 14 × 19 flask size

New Boston Division — New Boston, Ohio

Our New Boston facility provides high-volume green sand molding using:

  • 2 Disamatic 2013(A) molding machines — 19 × 23 flask size

Jackson Division — Jackson, Ohio

Our Jackson facility specializes in shell molding using:

  • 20 Shalco shell molding machines — 15 × 20 flask size

Gray Iron Casting Capabilities

OSCO produces gray iron castings in grades ranging from G2500 through G3500.

Our casting capabilities support a broad range of production requirements, from lower-volume programs of several thousand pieces annually to high-volume programs exceeding four million castings per year.

Castings produced by OSCO serve applications in industries including:

  • Air conditioning and refrigeration
  • Automotive
  • Pumps and valves
  • Sump pumps
  • Industrial power transmission equipment
  • Electric motors

Casting weight range: approximately 1 to 50 pounds.*

*Final casting weight capability should be confirmed based on part geometry, molding process, and production requirements.

Value-Added Services

OSCO provides a range of additional services to help customers move from casting design through finished production. Services are provided either directly by OSCO or through established manufacturing partners.

Core Making

Our Portsmouth facility produces both chemically bonded Iso-Cure cores and shell cores in-house.

Core-making equipment includes:

  • 3 Disamatic Combi core machines
  • 1 Laempe 10 core machine
  • 1 Radford shell core machine

We can also source additional core requirements through qualified partners when appropriate.

Heat Treating

OSCO can provide annealing and stress relieving using heat-treating capabilities located at our Portsmouth facility.

Machining and Painting

For customers seeking a more complete supply solution, OSCO can coordinate machining and painting services through established manufacturing partners, allowing us to serve as a Tier 1 casting supplier.

Prototype Castings

Need production-representative samples quickly?

OSCO can produce prototype castings in as little as three weeks. Whenever practical, prototypes are produced using our production molding equipment, helping simplify the transition from prototype development to full production.

Solidification Modeling

OSCO uses QuickCast by ESI for casting solidification modeling. Simulation helps our engineering team evaluate casting and gating designs before production tooling is finalized.

Casting Design and Engineering Support

Our engineering team can assist with casting development, including 2D drawings and 3D models. We work with customers to help develop casting designs that are practical to manufacture and suited for repeatable production.
